Available Incentives

There are millions in funding is available in Illinois for organizations wanting to install EV charging stations. Eligible participants may be able to combine funding from multiple programs:

ComEd make-ready rebates

Business and public sector ComEd customers can receive rebates on make-ready infrastructure, whether located on the customer side or ComEd side of the meter, for Level 2 AC charging and DC fast chargers once the stations are operational.

Make-ready rebates for Level 2 AC charging
  • All customers may receive up to $5,333 per port with a 10-port maximum.
  • Certain customers, including low-income or Environmental Justice (EJ) communities, may receive up to $8,000 per port with a 10-port maximum.
Make-ready rebates for DC (Level 3) fast charging
  • All customers may receive up to $667 per kW with a minimum power output of 50 kW and maximum rebate of $500,000.
  • Certain customers, including low-income or EJ communities, may receive up to $1,000 per kW with a minimum power output of 50 kW and maximum rebate of $500,000.
Vehicle rebates available include:
Fleet vehicles, Class 1-2 (light-duty) rebates
  • Base rebate: $5,000
  • Select customers' rebate: $7,500
Fleet vehicles, Class 3-6 EV (medium-duty) rebates
  • Base rebate: $20,000
  • Select customers' rebate: $30,000
Fleet vehicles, Class 7-8 EV (heavy-duty) rebates
  • Base rebate: $50,000
  • Select customers' rebate: $75,000
Transit bus 30’ or greater rebates
  • Base rebate: $80,000
  • Select customers' rebate: $120,000
K-12 school bus 35’ or greater rebates
  • Base rebate: $120,000
  • Select customers' rebate: $180,000
ComEd has updated their terms and conditions for rebate reservations requests.
  • Requirements include: fully approved site plan by all parties
  • ComEd approval for new or upgraded service (if required)
  • Any additional documentation requested by ComEd monthly updates provided to ComEd on progress
  • Reservations are good for 6 months with one 60 day extension available

City of Naperville

The City of Naperville is offering rebates for installing Level 2 AC or DC fast charging stations of up to $500.
The completed application and all required documentation must be submitted within six months of installation.

Federal tax credit

If you purchase charging stations between Jan. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2032, your organization may be eligible to receive a 30% tax credit up to $100,000 per station under the 30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit. Commonly referred to as the "federal tax credit," the credit now requires applicants to be located in designated census tracts.
