Available incentives:

Investing in EV charging is more affordable than you think. Governments and utilities offer an array of tax credits, rebates and grants that can put you on the road to a more sustainable future.

Hawaii Energy Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate

  • New level 2 AC charging station: up to $4,500 per unit
  • Rip & replace level 2 AC charging station: up to $3,000 per unit
  • New level 3 DC fast charging station: up to $35,000 per unit.
  • Rip & replace level 3 DC charging station: up to $28,000 per unit
  • Bonus incentive: up to $5,000 per level 2 AC single- and multi-port EV charging station installed at affordable housing facilities
Eigible project locations include retail, workplaces, fleet depots and multi-family housing projects. Applicants must designate parking spots on a one-to-one ratio for each port. Applications are accepted first come, first served.

Kaua'i Island Cooperative: EV Charger Rebate

  • If project cost is greater than $45,000, Level 2 AC charging stations receive up to $10,000 per project
  • If project cost is less than $45,000, Level 2 AC charging station receive up to $5,000 per project
  • Rip and replace, or retrofit, projects may be eligible for up to $3,500 per project.
Eligible project locations include retail, workplaces, and multi-family housing projects. Chargers must be available for public use for a minimum of one year. Incentive may be combined with the Hawaii Energy incentive listed above.

Federal tax credit

If you purchase charging stations between Jan. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2032, your organization may be eligible to receive a 30% tax credit up to $100,000 per station under the 30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit. Commonly referred to as the "federal tax credit," the credit now requires applicants to be located in designated census tracts.
