  • The Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) is now accepting applications under a continuous intake process for Initial Recipient projects for new 3rd parties who can become delivery organizations. The Program targets the installation of infrastructure in public places, on-street, at workplaces and multi-unit residential buildings, as well as infrastructure for ZEV fleets.

  • The Federal Government’s 2016 budget announced that Accelerated Capital Cost Allowances (ACCA) will extend to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and energy storage equipment. In the case of electric vehicle charging stations, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has created two unique classes, 43.1 and 43.2. Electric vehicle charging stations set up to supply at least 90 kW of continuous power will be eligible for inclusion in Class 43.2 with a CCA rate of 50%. Those charging stations set up to supply more than 10 kW but less than 90 kW of continuous power will be eligible for inclusion in Class 43.1 with CCA rate of 30%.

  • Minister of Transport announces new Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Program
Canadians have made it clear that they want clean air, good jobs and lower bills. The Government of Canada continues to deliver on these priorities by making zero-emission vehicles more affordable that help reduce pollution, create more well-paying jobs, and build a cleaner world for generations to come.

  • Indigenous Clean Energy’s (ICE) Charge Up program is set to power the national Indigenous electric highway! Through the program, ICE will cover 50% or up to $5,000 per Level 2 port and Up to $75,000 per DCFC of EV charging station installation costs for Indigenous communities and businesses. The total funding available is $316,250. Applications will be assessed monthly until all funding has been allocated. Please note funding is for charger installation only and does not cover ongoing maintenance and operating costs. All Indigenous communities/organizations are invited to apply. However, the priority will be given to projects happening in rural communities and communities that do not already have a charging station.

  • NRCAN has granted over $40M to 22 Third-Party Delivery Organizations to distribute a component of the ZEVIP funding to Ultimate Recipients (applicants) to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure projects in public places, on-street, in multi-unit residential buildings, at workplaces or for light-duty vehicle fleets. Applicants to these organizations may be able to receive up to $5,000 per Level 2 port and/or up to $75,000 per DCFC station, with a max of $100,000 per applicant. The 22 organizations that have been granted funding can be found HERE.

  • The NRCan Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) has a total of $40 million dollars available to fund Level 2 charging stations and DC Fast Chargers with a $5 million dollar cap per project. The program will provide funding up to $5,000 per connector to offset the cost of purchasing and installing 20 Level 2 charging stations and up to $50,000 for each ChargePoint DC fast charger (DCFC) at public places, workplaces, multi-unit residential buildings, for light-duty fleets, medium and heavy-duty fleets and transit sites. Proposals are due August 11, 2022.

Federal

  • The federal iZEV Program provides an incentive of up to $5000 for new battery-electric or longer range plug-in hybrid vehicles (at least 15kWh), and up to $2500 for shorter range plug-in vehicles. To be eligible for the $5,000 incentive a zero-emission car must have a base model MSRP less than $55,000 with higher priced versions up to a max MSRP of $65,000 also eligible. Larger zero-emission vehicles (e.g., SUVs, minivans and pick-up trucks) must have a base model MSRP under $60,000 with higher priced versions up to a max of $70,000 also eligible.

Incentives are limited to one per individual. Businesses and provincial and municipal governments are limited to 10 incentives, but will be ineligible for the tax write-off. Business not taking advantage of the iZEV program will be eligible for a tax write-off for the purchase of both new and used light, medium and heavy duty vehicles.

It's Time for Change in

Currently, there are no incentives available in your area. However, transportation is changing rapidly and we update this page frequently. Please check back often for the latest information. In the meantime, feel free to edit the letter below to let your legislators know that the time for e-mobility is now.

Dear [Name of Representative]:

My name is [Your Name] and l live in [City, State/Province]. My organization, [Name of Company], is interested in investing in electric vehicle (EV) charging for our [Employees/Customers/Residents), but I recently learned there aren’t any incentives available in my area to help offset the costs of purchasing and installing EVSE equipment.

As you are no doubt aware, the transportation sector is responsible for the largest share of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, contributing to climate change and pollution, which are bad for people’s health and bad for business.

I am proud of where I live. I don’t want to see us fall behind the rest of the country and the world by failing to keep pace with changes that are both necessary and inevitable.

I urge you to consider introducing legislation that would offer incentives such as tax credits, rebates or grants to those of us who are eager to make [City or Region] a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable place to live for every citizen. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your efforts in this matter.

Very truly yours,

[Your Name]
